off-season scrimmages

ABSC is pleased to announce that we will sponsor an off-season kids scrimmage on Saturdays this winter at the Gilman artificial turf fields. The scrimmage is for boys and girls in Under-6 through Under-14 who are registered with ABSC. Please see below for eligibility requirements. There is NO additional charge for current ABSC members to participate.
The times and dates are:
Saturdays
December - 5, 12, 19, 26 (2009)

January - 9, 16, 23, 30 (2010)
February - 6, 13
9:00 - 10:00 am for Under-6 through Under-8
10:00 - 11:30 am for Under-9 through Under-14
The Off-Season scrimmage is designed as an opportunity for the kids to 'just play' with minimal input from adults. No RSVP - just show up and play.
The format:
- Rough age segmentation - depending on who shows up, we will have coed games split between the older and younger children - up to three different groups. The club will organize the games to provide a fun, supportive and safe environment for all the kids who show up.
- Supervision - the club will provide adequate 'game' supervision with a mix of paid staff and volunteers. Parents will be completely responsible for their kids. Children in Under-6 through Under-8 may not be left on the field without parental supervision. The ABSC staff will leave promptly at 11:30 am, so all children must be picked up by then.
- Equipment - the club will supply balls, cones and goals. Shinguards are required. (No uniform necessary.)
- Weather - the Gilman fields are playable in wet conditions. In the event of heavy rain and or dangerous conditions the scrimmages will be canceled; however, we will play in light rain, etc. On days when the weather is less than perfect, players should dress appropriately with layers and in clothing that will retain warmth even when damp.
- Eligibility - All players in Under-6 through Under-14 who were registered with ABSC during this Fall 2009 season are eligible to participate. Age guidelines can be found here.
