Register for the Jamboree and President's Cup!

EVENT:  Saturday, November 21st and Sunday November 22nd.
DEADLINE TO SIGN UP:  OCTOBER 31

The Jamboree is for recreational teams U8, U9, U10, U12 and U14 and the President's Cup is for Class III teams U12 and U14. Each team will play a minimum of 3 games (2 Saturday, 1 Sunday) and possibly a 4th if they make the playoffs on Sunday afternoon. There will not be rain out re-schedules.

The Jamboree and President's Cup is a great way for your team to participate in a tournament. This event is sponsored by the Alameda Contra Costa Youth League (ACCYSL) and is only open to the ABSC, Richmond, San Pablo, El Cerrito and Mersey Soccer Clubs.

Each team is required to provide two volunteers to serve as Field Marshalls during this event. The volunteer hours earned can be applied towards a $100 volunteer deposit refund for the Fall 2009 or Spring 2010 season.

Please understand that once you sign your team up you will be taking a slot that cannot easily be filled if you back out later. Also, in the event you do back out, you may wind up effectively taking another team out of the tournament as the organizers have decided not to have any "odd number" flights. Please realize the commitment you are making and follow through.

Summer Futsal !
Under-8, Under-9, Under-10

Each Sunday this month - July 12, 19, and 26th - ABSC is sponsoring a free futsal program for incoming Under-8, Under-9 and Under-10 players, including players in this birth date range: 8-1-99 to 7-31-02.

James Kenney Recreation Center (in the gym)
1720 8th Street, Berkeley 94710
between Delaware and Virginia
10am to 12noon

Futsal is an indoor variant of soccer and is a heck of a lot of fun as well as being a great way to learn ball control and improve touch. Games are fast with lots of movement. The game format is informal pick-up with no keeping score. Amount of playing time depends on how many show up (we can set up small-sided games at the adjacent grass field for overflow crowds).

Bring indoor soccer or gym sneakers (as well as cleats if you want to play on grass), shin guards, your reversible ABSC jersey (or a Yellow AND a Blue t-shirt) and a water bottle. No RSVP. Registered ABSC boys and girls just show up and play.

A note from Director Neil Bradford:
This would be the in-house training offered by SAY soccer. It would cover the 4- to 9-year-olds comprehensively. We talk about characteristics of children at this age, health and safety and the setting up of a training session (being prepared and organized). We follow this up by spending between 2-2.5 hours on the field showing activities such as learning through game, simple technical exercises and the importance of 3v3 (small sided games and how it helps develop players).
