gilman grass partial closure

Coaches, a note to ABSC from Doug Fielding of the Association of Sports Field Users
ABSC is part of ACC (Alameda-Contra Costa Youth Soccer League)

Hi,

I am letting you know that we will be roping off about a third of the East field at TBSF [aka Gilman fields] during the next two weeks to prevent ACC coaches from using this area during weekday practices. The area being roped off is the goal area next to the south fence of the South artificial. The reason we are roping it off is that we have not been able to establish sufficient grass coverage for the denuded spots in this area so we are giving the grass in this area another two weeks, March 15, to get established.

We will make the area available for weekend games.

This action is a direct result of ACC coaches, including longstanding ones, continuing to practice their teams in this one area without regard or the condition of the grass and when other areas of the field were completely vacant and not denuded of grass. If this practice doesn't stop we will be moving to a summer shutdown or a full spring or fall shutdown of this part of the field during the week.

Coaches caught inside the roped off area during the week will be subject to a $250 fine for playing on a closed field. Let your folks know.

Doug
