ABSC holds monthly board meetings. Please join us to ask questions, give input, air your concerns, meet the board members and learn about how the club operates.

Board Member Job Descriptions

• President •
Preside over all Executive Board meetings (monthly).  Represent ABSC before ACCYSL, CYSA.  Take other steps in the best interests of ABSC (consistent with the Constitution/Bylaws and any vote of the Executive Board).  Perform other duties as described by the by-laws. 

• Vice President •
Preside over Executive Board meetings in the absence of the President.  Assume the presidency should the president be unable to complete term.  Assist the president when called upon.  Perform other duties as described by the by-laws.

• Secretary •
In accordance with the by-laws, keep minutes of all Executive Board meetings and post to the website or yahoogroup.  Supervise elections.  Provide notices of Executive Board meetings to all Board members and all other club members requesting notice.  Provide notices of ABSC AGM to all club members.  Provide refreshments for board meetings.  Perform other duties as described by the by-laws. 

• Treasurer •
Oversee  the receipt and deposit of all funds in the ABSC bank account.  Oversee the writing of checks as authorized by the Executive Board.  Keep accurate records and report bank balance at each meeting.  Support and oversee the budget committee to produce the draft annual budget by the December board meeting.  Prepare and present an annual financial report at the April board meeting.  Perform other duties as described by the by-laws.

• Coaching Coordinator •
Coordinate and communicate supplementary coaching support programs, including working with the ACCYSL Coaching Coordinator.  Help identify ABSC coaches who need assistance.  Participate in selection of recreational team coaches.

• Community Outreach •
Advertize club soccer programs to the community at large.  Serve as the main organizer and point person for distributing flyers in schools and community centers.   Shape the outreach effort to bring our soccer program to under-represented communities.  Receive invitations from community fairs, events and activities and decide which ones our club will attend.

• Division 3 Liaison •
Communicate information about the demands and functioning of being a competitive team, the role of team manager and its importance to managing the business aspects for each team.  Serve as a communication link between Division 3 teams and the Executive Board.  Advise ABSC teams on the tournament application process.  Work with the club manager on the try-out process, team formation and flighting.  Solicit Division 3 coach-of-the-year nominations.

• Division 4 Liaison •
Communicate information to coaches about the ACCYSL recreational program, including the modified rules and the 4-Goal rule.  Serve as a communication link between Division 4 teams and the Executive Board.  Work with club manager and Flighting Secretaries on flighting.  Represent ABSC in the planning of ACCYSL end-of-season Jamboree.  Solicit Division 4 coach-of-the-year nominations.

• Event Coordinator – Opening Day Soccer Festival •
Serve as the main organizer and point person for this fun soccer celebration for club membership on Labor Day morning.  Reserve field.  Inventory and order supplies. Coordinate with club manager on choice of contractor to run skills clinics.  Supervise volunteers on the day of the event (welcome booth, spirit wear sales, arcade games, raffles or fundraisers, etc).  Contribute notes to event notebook.

• Event Coordinator – Solano Stroll •
Serve as the main organizer and point person for the club's participation in the Solano Stroll parade and the running of our information booth on the second Sunday in September. Submit application to Solano Avenue Association.  Inventory and order supplies.  Supervise volunteers on the day of the event in booth set-up and take-down, disseminating of information, conducting booth activities (e.g., street soccer mini scrimmages, raffles, etc).  Coordinate volunteers who will supervise paraders and will distribute favors (balloons, banners, etc).   Contribute notes to event notebook.

• Fields Coordinator •
Coordinate volunteer field crew.  Prepare field crew schedule and implement field crew process for managing all soccer fields assigned to ABSC for use by ACCYSL.  Make sure that assigned field crews set up and take down fields during the season, and that each field is re-lined weekly during the season.  Serve as a communication link between the coaches and ABSC and ACCYSL with respect to field conditions.

• Field Host Coordinator •
Coordinate volunteer field hosts and forward information gathered by them to appropriate parties.  Maintain and distribute equipment for volunteer field hosts.

• Referee Coordinator •
Work with the Division 3 registrar in obtaining a list of affiliated referees for the fall season.  Help recruit, support and monitor affiliated referees, including follow-up communication to make sure they get enrolled in referee classes, they take the referee classes, and/or make sure they officiate at a minimum of five games per fall season, sending a mid-season reminder when necessary.  Support ABSC youth referee pool.  Provide referee starter kits.  Work in a support function to the ACCYSL Referee Coordinator.

Board members attend monthly board meetings and help recruit candidates for empty board positions.
